Most Americans did not see the choice so simply. In fact, he has done less public service than most 16 year olds I know. Clinton has experience and knows what she is doing. I just focused on experience and resumes. Rather than emphasizing his strengths, he just tried to mine votes by creating a false equivalence with Hillary.įrom the beginning, I just chose to ignore all of the accusations. It was the best way for Trump to attract voters. In fact, if you notice, the more bad stuff came out about Trump, the more bad stuff was slung at Clinton. There are very few in the +Trump, +Clinton group.īut anyway, depending on how much you can get your reasoning clouded by accusations, you might come to think that Clinton and Trump are both just as bad, so you might as well vote for Trump. If you look at it that way, then even if you are -Trump, you might still vote for him if you are also -Clinton. ![]() Therefore, you can more or less split the electorate into four sentiment groups + Trump, - Trump, + Clinton, and - Clinton. Voting FOR one is effectively the same as voting AGAINST the other. I can't give you a complete answer, but most people feel as though there are only two candidates. "Please tell me why Americans vote for Trump near half." The demagogues are emboldened and united and will not rely on a clown to lead them next time. ![]() Next time, it will be someone more polished and smooth, but no less empty than Trump or Cruz or Carson. The election is over, but their agenda, to watch society burn, has not been met. They are the barbarians within our gates. Learn to identify them and their language quickly and strive to protect the complex machineries and necessary vulnerabilities of responsible citizenship. Remember the fear mongers and the hate bringers. Mark the demagogues and the fellow travelers of demagogues. They will do it when society is most vulnerable, say, after a natural disaster, in the face of a war, or during an economic downturn. This lack of accountability is poison, and it excuses people who threaten any number of institutions one day, and then rely on amnesia and the better nature of others to just "give them a pass." They will then wait for another opportunity to push their racism, misogyny, hatred for the poor and all disadvantaged people. ![]() They will laugh it off and explain away their horrible judgment and lack of fundamental logic as a good natured romp or a sincere desire to. Again, I told people to remember carefully who those supporters and endorsers are.īecause tomorrow, I predict, far far more than half of them will deny they ever did that. Over and over again, all but a few, a very few candidates have not only supported Trump, they have ENDORSED Trump, effectively recommending him as a good presidential choice. ![]() Three months ago, I told people that Trump does, in fact, represent the GOP. Six months ago, I told people on this site that they ought to look carefully at all of the Trump supporters because they have represented so many ideas that are not only ugly, they are unfounded, and they make no sense. The poll, which will be updated as additional responses are tallied and votes are counted throughout Tuesday, found:ħ5 percent agree that "America needs a strong leader to take the country back from the rich and powerful."ħ2 percent agree "the American economy is rigged to advantage the rich and powerful."Ħ8 percent agree that "traditional parties and politicians don’t care about people like me."ħ6 percent believe "the mainstream media is more interested in making money than telling the truth."ĥ7 percent feel that "more and more, I don't identify with what America has become."ĥ4 percent feel "it is increasingly hard for someone like me to get ahead in America." A majority also feel that the economy is rigged to mostly help the wealthy. The poll of more than 10,000 people who have already cast their ballots in the presidential election showed a majority of voters are worried about their ability to get ahead and have little confidence in political parties or the media to improve their situation. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans who had cast their votes for the next president early on Tuesday appeared to be worried about the direction of the country, and were looking for a "strong leader who can take the country back from the rich and powerful," according to an early reading from the Reuters/Ipsos national Election Day poll. Well, we shall see but this has Trump written all over it.
